Remember my April 10 post that spring had arrived in Manhattan?
Well, last weekend, summer arrived! The Great Lawn was covered with lazy people soaking up the sun... how wonderful life can be! Since not many New Yorkers are blessed with an apartment with outdoor space, on a sunny weekend afternoon, they will go en masse to Central Park in their shorts, t-shirts, flip flops and yes, even their bikini and just lie down on the Great Lawn, Sheep Meadow or any other green in Central Park. Who needs a backyard when you have Central Park?
We celebrated the arrival of summer with a walk through Central Park and a delicious Italian ice cream in West Village from L'Arte Del Gelato, which I strongly recommend to everyone visiting New York during summer! That's one of the things I like about New York: whatever you feel like on any particular day, there will always be a place that sells it!
Although, summer went as quickly as it came... it's raining and windy today - not that different as in Belgium!
