Denver & Colorado Springs

Colorful Colorado

After we dropped off my parents at the Denver airport on July 29th (and after having woken up at 4.30 AM), I have to admit that we were a bit "road trip tired"... I guess more than 2 months on the road is a tipping point. So, we decided to take the tempo down a notch for the next couple of days. At least, that was the idea.

We left the airport at 10 AM and by 11 AM, we were already wondering through Denver's Art Museum...

Then, we made our way through Civic Center Park passing the Colorado State Capitol...

...going to the 16th street mall and stopping at Denver's convention center with the famous blue bear sculpture...

and ending up in LoDo, Lower Downtown.

On July 29th, we drove further South to Colorado Springs where we visited the Garden of the Gods, so-called since it looks like as if a higher power decided to decorate its backyard with some nice, red rocks. The garden inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write "America, the Beautiful" in 1893.
