Wine Country

Napa and Sonoma

After our hectic stay in San Francisco, we relaxed in Napa Valley. Ward booked us a wine tour at O'Brien Estates. The owner turned out to be one of the few lucky investors of the dot com era, who used his extra cash to invest in his hobby, wine. Wine tasting in the US is somewhat different than in France. We had to pay for the tasting ($30 pp) which we don't think is a bad thing. That way you don't feel bad if you don't buy any bottles (on the other hand, the purpose of wine tasting in France is buying the bottles). We definitely got our money's worth, we tasted more than 12 wines (and they poored half glasses each time), four of which came directly out of the wine tank / barrel.

For lunch, we found a quiet spot in Sonoma to recover from our wine tasting. And after that, we didn't really have any energy left for other activities, so we made our way straight to our next hotel.
