The Big Chill
On June 29th, we arrived in a city that we were particularly looking forward too: San Francisco. Behold below, the summary of our busy schedule in Frisco...
We spent our first night at the AT&T ball park for a baseball game, SF Giants vs. LA Dodgers, two teams who used to play in NYC until the late 1950's (this part was dictated by Ward as you may suspect). The game was OK but the food and view was the main reason for us being there. We had to leave early since it got quite chilly (that's what San Francisco is famous for).
The next day, we started our sightseeing marathon of San Francisco. We started walking to our first destination since we figured that everything looked closeby on our map. Of course, that turned out to be a msitake. Remember the hills you see in the movies filmed in San Francisco? Well, those hills are in fact mountains! We made it to the first summit, Crookedest Street, but wisely decided to use public transportation from thereon.
We further passed by Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, where the sealions come watch the tourists.
And we admired Alcatraz from afar... Unfortunately, ferry tickets to the island were already sold out for the entire next week.
We also hopped on one of the old cable cars and held on tight (really tight, quite scary!) when it drove down the San Francisco hills.
We explored Chinatown, which is much bigger and, in our opinion (but we've never been to China), more authentic than the NY one. And we had espresso and tiramisu in Cafe Grecco, in North Beach, the Little Italy of SF. That's also where we met up with our friend, Christian, for a beer in a Belgian bar (Belgians are everywhere) and a delicious, authentic pizza at Tony's.
The next day, we headed over to Fort Mason to walk along the (very long) San Francisco coast line, with a magnificent view on the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge upclose is quite impressive!
We finally ended up in the Golden Gate Park, kinda the Central Park of San Francisco. We had lunch in nearby Haight-Ashbury and visited the park's conservatory.
And that's all we did in Frisco...
